Finance Highlights 08/05/24
Item 20.06.24: Committee approved several resolutions that are needed to have the special municipal election, September 24th, for the purposes of creating a new city government structure, that includes a city manager position. Item 06.07.24: Committee approved a request from Judith Wright, Library Director, for budget amendments to pay for new ADA compliant and family friendly parking spaces. Part of this money was meant to install speed bumps to deal with cut-through traffic, but after discussion, Some councilors were against installing the speed bumps without looking at other options first. So this part of the request was carried over for further evaluation of the best method to make that parking lot safer. This item will go before the full council for a vote August 12, 2024 at 6:00pm.
Item 09.07.24: Committee approved a request to authorize the Mayor to sign supplemental agreement with ALDOT for Central Avenue Tap Project. There was a need to extend the line of the trail.

Public Safety Highlights 08/05/24
Item 04.07.24: Committee approved a request to create a loading zone on St. Charles St. in Edgewood next to Otey's. The plan will include yellow curb paint and pavement striping along the entire block for the purpose of a loading zone only. This is to help deter double-parking in that area. This item will now go before the full council for a vote August 12, 2024 at 6:00pm.

Public Works Highlights 08/05/24
Item 07.07.24: Committee approved a request for permission to construct a path within the right-of-way at 27th Avenue South, which is the location of Rodney Scott's BBQ Restaurant. This is to create a path, not open to the public, for carrying fire wood into the kitchen. This item will now go before the full council for a vote August 12, 2024 at 6:00pm.
