Plannng & Development Highlights 12/04/23
1. Committee recommended to the full council a request to set a public hearing for consideration of proposed revisions to the city’s zoning ordinance. The Planning Commission voted 9-0 in favor of recommending the updates that are meant to eliminate inconsistencies, add clarity to vague language, and accurately reflect how modern policies and procedures are implemented. Most of the revisions are administrative, it does not change zoning classifications or zoning of property.
2. Committee carried over a request to consider proposed amendments to the Homewood sign ordinance. Changes being considered are to temporary signs that can no longer be attached to the building, window signs that must take up 25% or less of a window area, and monument signs that must be five feet from any right-of-way and approved by the city engineer.
