The 2023-24 budget has been approved! Following a unanimous vote by the city council, Mayor Patrick McClusky's $63 million budget has been approved without the need to tap into any fund reserves to achieve a balanced budget. To review the approved budget check HERE, and watch the full council video above. Of note are some highlights below:
- All city employees received a 4% COLA (cost of living adjustment). The city absorbed all employees' insurance cost increases of 3.5%, and will give a tiered bonus to all employees based on length of service, grossed up to cover taxes.
- Public Safety employees receive an additional 5% on October 1, and another 5% on the anniversary of their hire-date, for a total of 14% COLA.
- Capital projects include: new, more accessible Central Park playground equipment, eight new police vehicles, new street paving, storm-water projects and creek-wall restoration, Saulter Road pocket park, Reese Street sidewalks and parking spaces for downtown, and other sidewalk projects around the city.
- $23,473,131 million is going to our schools, with $11 million coming from our unique dedicated one-cent sales tax and the rest from property taxes.
