UPDATE: This item was approved by the full council at a scheduled public hearing Monday, November 6th at 6:00pm. See that meeting HERE.
The city council will vote on the final development plan for the proposed redevelopment of a 3.21-acre site for the construction of a 27,650-square-foot grocery store behind the CVS Pharmacy on U.S. 31. This item originally came out of Planning Commission with a favorable 7-2 vote.
Concerns have been raised by residents and business owners along Courtney Drive regarding the proposed placement of the loading dock, as well as potential noise and parking issues due to truck traffic traveling through Drake Street, swinging onto Courtney Drive, and then backing into the loading dock.

But citizens have also expressed their gratitude to Piggly Wiggly for working with them to find a solution that works for everyone involved. Representatives from Piggly Wiggly stated that they will restrict delivery times to reduce traffic, and have a dedicated employee to direct trucks that are delivering. They have said that they firmly believe the plan to be voted on is the most suitable option for the lot.
