Developers have now demolished the old EconoLodge in West Homewood. This is to make way for a new $32.5 million mixed-use development planned for that spot. It will have 10,000 square feet of space that will serve as the home to El Barrio and Paramount's second locations. Directly above the two restaurants will be 18 two-bedroom, two-bathroom lofts for rent. There will also be 48 three-bedroom, two-and-a-half bathroom townhomes and three two-bedroom, two-bathroom townhomes for rent behind the mixed-use building.
Emphasizing community living, the townhouses will include main-level kitchens and living rooms, complete with stone countertops and stainless-steel appliances. Outdoor gathering spaces, including porches and a dog park, will complement the townhomes. The location also provides convenient access to nearby retailers, Hall Kent Elementary, and Patriot Park, promoting walkability within the neighborhood. The lofts, located above the restaurants, will offer views of the surrounding area.
This development is expected to be a pivotal project helping to drive growth and transformation in the West Homewood neighborhood.
The city council approved the final development plan for this project during their meeting, April 24, 2023. Watch that video here: https://bit.ly/46JYrfD
